Jiaxing Port in East China's Zhejiang province opened its first breakbulk shipping route to Indonesia on June 2, when a vessel departed from the Zhapu port area carrying 314 steel structure components bound for Kolaka Port, Indonesia.
The cargo will be used for a construction project in Indonesia and represents a stable source of export orders for local manufacturers. The customer also imports key new energy materials, including nickel hydroxide, through Jiaxing Port, creating a two-way logistics chain that combines raw material imports with equipment exports.
The new route underscores Jiaxing Port's growing role in supporting the new energy supply chain and strengthening trade ties with Southeast Asia. The service is expected to attract more cargo from the surrounding manufacturing base while providing local companies with a more efficient channel to overseas markets.
In recent years, Jiaxing Port has expanded exports of specialized cargo such as wind power equipment and steel structures while increasing the number of regional shipping services. The port is also accelerating the development of a northern Zhejiang distribution hub for breakbulk imports and exports, reinforcing its role in supporting the region's export-oriented economy.
