Shaoxing reports strong half-year economic performance

The GDP of Shaoxing for the first half of 2025 reached 415.8 billion yuan ($57.2 billion), growing 6.8 percent year-on-year, ranking second among cities in Zhejiang province.
Shaoxing's retail sector also showed positive results. The total retail sales of consumer goods for the first half of the year amounted to 161.8 billion yuan, a 4.9 percent increase compared to the previous year.
The city has made strides in foreign trade, with its export structure continuously improving. Shaoxing has significantly expanded its exports to emerging markets, particularly in Africa, South Asia, and South America. Exports to Argentina, Singapore, Egypt, and Pakistan grew by 149.9 percent, 35.1 percent, 19.1 percent, and 17.0 percent, respectively.
In terms of product composition, high-tech product exports increased by 39.1 percent, with notable growth in electronic technology, which surged by 277.3 percent, and electronic components, which grew by 164.9 percent.
On the income front, Shaoxing residents saw stable growth, with a narrowing income gap between urban and rural areas. In the first half of 2025, per capita disposable income for all residents reached 43,030 yuan, urban residents earned 49,486 yuan, and rural residents earned 30,265 yuan, with year-on-year increases of 5.9 percent, 5.5 percent, and 6.3 percent, respectively.
