Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province recorded strong tourism and transportation growth during the May Day holiday from May 1 to 5, with traffic on the Zhoushan Cross-Sea Bridge reaching 534,400 vehicles and traffic on Zhujiajian Bridge reaching 393,300.
Major tourism areas, including Dinghai Ancient City, Xiaogan Island, and Dongsha Ancient Town, also experienced heavy traffic and visitor flow. Windmill Camp in Dinghai district became one of the most popular destinations, receiving 3,267 vehicles on the first day of the holiday, far exceeding its previous single-day record of 769.
The city organized 241 cultural, tourism, and sports activities, receiving around 350,000 visits, and a Wuyue Cup soccer match between Zhoushan and Ningbo drew more than 13,000 spectators.
Dinghai district held a cultural week, ancient city parades, and a carnival. Putuo district launched garden events, rural opera performances, and art exhibitions, while Daishan and Shengsi counties organized markets, concerts, and island-themed cultural performances.
