As the 15th China International Garden Expo approaches, Ouyao Town scenic area, one of the three main exhibition sites at the Yongjia sub-venue in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, awaits visitors with its rich kiln cultural heritage.
Located in Tantou village, Ouyao Town is not only the site of the Ouyao imperial kiln Tang Dynasty (618-907) ruins, but also an open cultural hub where visitors can explore, play, and engage in hands-on experiences, with kiln-opening festivals during the 2025 National Day holiday drawing over 7,000 daily visits.
This year's kiln-opening festival will kick off in April, coinciding with the opening of the Garden Expo, allowing visitors to witness the birth of lustrous celadon in the kiln fires. The event will also include an intangible cultural heritage market, and the Ouyao Museum will feature a themed exhibition tracing the millennium-old history of Ouyao ceramics.
An activity during the May Day holiday will offer hands-on experiences of ancient techniques, while during Dragon Boat Festival, Ouyao Town will blend ceramic culture with traditional customs, offering performances, markets, and games.
During the summer holiday, the "Ouyao Town Starry Night Market" will create a nighttime scene of ceramics, cuisine, and creative products.
These events at Ouyao Town promise a spring and summer rendezvous during the Garden Expo from April to July.
