Keqiao district, honored as the "Oriental Venice", occupies some 1,066 square kilometers and has five towns, 12 sub-districts, and one state and two provincial level development zones under its administration. It enjoys a reputation as the hometown of bridges, rice wine, calligraphy, traditional opera and literary celebrities.
The district enjoys a favorable location which is 20 minutes' drive from Hangzhou International Airport in the west, one-hour's drive from Ningbo in the east and two-hour's drive from Shanghai in the north. The transportation in Keqiao is well developed. The Hangzhou-Ningbo High-speed Railway and the Hangzhou-Ningbo, Hangzhou-Jinhua-Quzhou and Shaoxing-Zhuji expressways, as well as National Highway 104, Provincial Highway 329 and Hangzhou-Ningbo Canal all pass through the district.

Its traditional competitive industry – the textile industry is prospering, and China Textile City is the leading market of its kind in the country. Emerging industries such as featured residences, creative design, equipment manufacturing, leisure tourism, automobiles and auto parts enjoy a rapid development momentum. Not to be forgotten, its classic rice wine industry also keeps developing with the times.

The district is attempting to construct nine characteristic towns, among them the rice wine town at Hutang sub-district, the entertainment town at Keyan sub-district and the calligraphy town at Lanting town. They have all received recognition and support from the provincial government.
In recent years, Keqiao has been accelerating economic transformation and upgrades, building a beautiful countryside and a moderately prosperous society in line with the development layout of Shaoxing. Its future is to be a powerful and advanced district in the city. In 2025, Keqiao's GDP reached 239.96 billion yuan ($34.28 billion), ranking 10th in Zhejiang province and first in Shaoxing, and growing by 7.0 percent year-on-year. The added value of the primary industry was 4.57 billion yuan, up 4.0 percent year-on-year. The secondary industry reached 115.6 billion yuan, growing by 6.5 percent, while the tertiary industry led with 119.79 billion yuan, marking a 7.5 percent increase.
The industrial added value for the district rose by 7.8 percent year-on-year, with large-scale industrial enterprises achieving growth of 10.9 percent. The total value of imports and exports in Keqiao amounted to 185.38 billion yuan, an increase of 12.5 percent. In 2025, the per capita disposable income of all residents in Keqiao reached 87,883 yuan, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 5.0 percent.
