Yuecheng district, the historic core of Shaoxing with roots tracing back more than 2,500 years to the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC), has in recent years advanced the renewal and revitalization of its ancient city area.

The district has developed a series of landmark areas blending historic charm with modern functions, fostering industries such as cultural tourism, digital publishing, animation, creative design, and conventions.

During the 2025 May Day holiday, Yuecheng welcomed 1.063 million visits, up 26.25 percent year-on-year, generating about 1.13 billion yuan ($157.25 million) in tourism revenue.
