The city of Shaoxing marked its annual Ancient City Preservation Day on July 15 with a review of the past year's conservation achievements and the unveiling of new plans for protecting and revitalizing its ancient city area. Key archaeological discoveries from the past year were also presented.

During the ceremony, 12 community representatives were appointed as official "Guardians of the Ancient City". Shaoxing designated July 15 as its preservation day in 2019, coinciding with the enactment of local legislation to safeguard its historical legacy.

The city's historic quarters have also become a magnet for young entrepreneurs, with more than 600 creative makers now based there. A startup experience exchange is planned to support their ventures and foster a new wave of innovation rooted in tradition.

In recent years, Shaoxing has prioritized the preservation and revitalization of its ancient city, aiming to secure UNESCO World Heritage status.
