Kidney Bean Rice
Kidney bean rice is a local dish in Songyang county in Lishui, Zhejiang province.
After Tomb Sweeping Day, usually on April 4 or 5, the kidney beans in Songyang become ripe and ready for harvesting and entering the market.
Farmers pick fresh beans and quality sticky rice and cook them with water, Songyang smoked ham, diced preserved meat and seasonings. The cooked kidney bean rice has the fresh taste of beans as well as the strong taste of smoked ham.
