Two batches of oversized wind power bases weighing over 600 metric tons were loaded at Jiaxing Port in East China's Zhejiang province on April 2 and are set to be shipped to the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. This marks the port's first direct shipment of heavy equipment to Europe.
Carried by the vessel Xin Hai Tong 502, the cargo will be used in an offshore wind power project. The shipment opens a new logistics channel for large-scale equipment exports and strengthens the Yangtze River Delta region's network for delivering renewable energy equipment overseas.
The wind power bases are large, heavy structures with complex securing requirements. For the first time, a ship-to-ship transfer method was used during the operation, placing higher demands on safety, vessel stability, and fastening procedures.
To ensure safe transport, the city's maritime safety administration worked with port operators to conduct risk assessments and optimize handling plans.
Jiaxing Port has been expanding its role as a major bulk cargo hub in northern Zhejiang. This shipment represents progress in supporting the export of large renewable energy equipment and further strengthens connections with international markets.
