The WanDrama Film Studio has opened in Guangchen town, Pinghu, a county-level city in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, with a 100 million yuan (about $14 million) investment.

Its opening on Feb 10 coincided with the start of the web drama Pian Ai, which was filmed on location in Pinghu, marking a significant step in local cultural development.

WanDrama Film Studio occupies 1.67 hectares and has a built-up area of 20,000 square meters, having been converted from an old industrial facility. The studio combines film production, talent incubation, and tourism, differentiating itself from other major film hubs by focusing on modern themes and adaptable settings.

The studio offers more than 50 sets, suited to genres such as workplace dramas, sci-fi, and thrillers, and can accommodate up to 10 film crews simultaneously. It also features detachable storefronts, cyberpunk neon lights, and weather simulation systems.

This development supports the local economy by creating job opportunities for residents, with Guangchen town signing an agreement to prioritize local labor for extras and other roles.

The studio represents a shift toward integrating film production with rural development, boosting the area's cultural and economic growth.
