Young enthusiast breeds corals in mountainous village in Quzhou
In Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, nestled within the mountains of Longyou county, a vibrant underwater world thrives, thanks to the passion of a young enthusiast, Huang Ruochao.
The Jinse Coral Aquarium, located in a village of Luojia township over 300 kilometers from the nearest coastline, houses marine life from around the globe, including fish from the Maldives and corals from Sabah in Malaysia, Australia, and the Red Sea.
Huang, a post-1995 generation marine life enthusiast, has transformed this aquarium into a thriving coral breeding ground.
Visitors to the aquarium are greeted with a dazzling display of corals, their true colors revealed through special orange filter glasses that counteract the blue light used for optimal coral growth.

The aquarium functions like a laboratory, with breeding tanks meticulously maintained for various coral species. Huang's daily routine involves checking the water quality and adjusting conditions to ensure the corals remain healthy. His expertise extends to treating coral diseases, with a focus on preventing infections that can rapidly devastate coral populations.
Huang's work is driven by a mission to combat global coral bleaching, a severe consequence of rising temperatures that threatens marine ecosystems worldwide.
By creating a stable environment for corals in the aquarium, he aims to preserve these vital organisms for future generations.
