Ningbo-made port cranes shipped directly to Indonesia

Two large port cranes rolled off the production line in Ningbo and were shipped directly from a nearby dock to a port in Indonesia on April 1.

The two 4040 portal slewing cranes, built by Ningbo LHGJ Port Machinery and loaded at a dock about 400 meters from its factory in Xiangshan county, will be used for container and heavy cargo handling.

He Mingji, the company's deputy head of production, said the model is an intelligent high-eccentric design with several upgrades from conventional cranes. The column system was changed from a central to an eccentric layout, allowing the boom to extend farther while maintaining stability, while integrated three-dimensional machining was used in key slewing parts to keep precision within 3 millimeters.

Shipping the equipment as complete units posed logistical challenges because of their height and size. To avoid the higher cost and risk of overseas assembly, the company chose whole-machine transport. Its team drew up a dedicated plan a month in advance and carried out repeated calculations and simulations to manage ship berthing, axle vehicle transfer, and roll-on loading.

Founded in September 2021, Ningbo LHGJ Port Machinery is the first local manufacturer of port and marine engineering equipment in Xiangshan and is currently Ningbo's only manufacturer of large port machinery.
