Zhoushan achieves new milestone with record king crab shipment
A Russian-flagged vessel arrived in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, on March 29, bringing 185 metric tons of fresh king crabs. This shipment set a new record for the largest single shipment of king crabs handled at the Zhoushan port area.
Time was critical for transporting the king crabs to ensure their freshness. To meet the demand for quick delivery, officers at Zhoushan's entry-exit border inspection station implemented a seamless process. This included pre-clearance services and efficient on-site inspections to speed up the customs process and maintain the crabs' freshness.
Before the vessel's arrival, the inspection station coordinated with the vessel's crew, agents, and port staff to collect shipping details, crew information, and cargo lists. This preparation allowed the station to complete all necessary documentation in advance.
Once the vessel docked, inspection station officers promptly conducted identity checks, vessel inspections, and document processing. The process was streamlined to minimize waiting times. In less than 30 minutes, the entire shipment of king crabs was cleared and transferred to cold-chain transport, ready for distribution across the country.
