A Sam's Club store is set to enter Yiwu, Zhejiang province, after Yiwu Sam's Club Co was formally established, marking a concrete step in the retailer's expansion into central Zhejiang.

The newly registered company has a registered capital of $3 million and a business scope covering food sales, online sales, and the retail of medicines and medical devices, according to the information provided. The move suggests the project has moved from planning to preparations for physical operations.

If completed as scheduled, the Yiwu store would become Sam's Club's fourth outlet in a county-level city in China, following stores in Kunshan, Jinjiang, and Zhangjiagang. Sam's Club has been expanding into lower-tier markets as part of its broader growth push in the country.

The store's main structure has already been topped out and is expected to open as early as the end of 2026 and no later than 2027.

Yiwu, known as the world's small commodities capital, offers a large base of business operators and foreign merchants whose purchasing habits are seen as a strong fit for the membership warehouse format.

The Yiwu store is also expected to strengthen Sam's Club's presence in central Zhejiang and extend its reach across the wider regional market, including Jinhua, Quzhou, and Lishui.
