Quzhou municipal government departments convened a meeting on March 20 to advance the high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).

The event marked the launch of five distinctive TCM brands and five initiatives to boost consumption by integrating TCM into healthcare, industry, and culture.

Quzhou boasts a rich TCM heritage and unique resources. At the meeting, five regional TCM brands were launched, including Yang Jizhou Zhenjiu Treatment, Quzhou Lei Medicine, Medicine and Southern Confucianism, Qu Six Flavors, and TCM Health and Wellness. These all aim to enhance the recognition and influence of Quzhou's TCM.

Chinese physician Yang Jizhou (1522–1620) is renowned for his expertise in zhenjiu treatment, or acupuncture and moxibustion, one of the main treatment methods of TCM. Yang's zhenjiu treatment system was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage item in 2011.

Quzhou Lei Medicine revitalizes traditional formulas with "seasonal clinics" based on the Chinese classic Treatise on Seasonal Diseases. The third brand integrates Confucian and medical philosophies to create a TCM service brand. The brand of Qu Six Flavors focuses on the standardized cultivation and processing of six local medicinal ingredients. The last brand aims to integrate acupuncture and medicinal diets with cultural tourism.

Quzhou also plans to carry out five initiatives to advance the high-quality development of TCM, such as expanding specialized TCM services, strengthening preventive care, enhancing sports medicine, promoting traditional exercises, and developing the wellness tourism industry.
