Zhejiang posts strong gains during 14th Five-Year Plan period
Zhejiang's official review of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) highlights steady economic expansion, rising incomes, and deeper global integration.
According to the provincial briefing, Zhejiang's GDP grew from 6.7 trillion yuan ($943.80 billion) in 2020 to 9 trillion yuan in 2024. Per capita GDP rose from $14,600 to $19,000 over the same period and is expected to surpass $20,000 in 2025.
Trade performance strengthened markedly. Zhejiang's exports expanded from 2.5 trillion yuan in 2020 to 3.9 trillion yuan in 2024, solidifying the province's position among China's top exporters.
At the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, container throughput increased from 28.72 million TEUs to 39.30 million TEUs, maintaining its standing as one of the world's busiest ports.
Quality-of-life indicators also improved. The urban-rural income ratio narrowed from 1.96 to 1.83, reflecting more balanced development. Meanwhile, the share of cultural and related industries in GDP rose from 6.8 percent to 7.3 percent, signaling the growing weight of Zhejiang's creative and cultural sectors.
