A patriotic art exhibition opened on Aug 1 in Shangcheng district of Hangzhou, marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the World Anti-Fascist War (1939-45).

Hosted by the Shangcheng district federation of literary and art circles, the show features 80 calligraphy and painting works that honor patriotism, reflect on the nation's wartime history, and celebrate achievements in reform and modernization.

At the opening ceremony, veteran artists Liu Yuhai and Zhang Ningping shared their creative inspirations, while youth representatives presented calligraphy pieces to retired soldiers in tribute.

Elder veteran Tu Genyong, nearly 70, recalled his military service with deep emotion, moving the audience.

The Shangcheng district veterans service center also gifted classic Red literature to young attendees, encouraging them to draw inspiration from China's revolutionary past.
