In Jinyun county, Lishui, East China's Zhejiang province, the Xiandu Scenic Area is a lush summer paradise, home to the majestic Huangdi Temple nestled amid lush mountains and lucid waters.

Jinyun is a treasure trove where the cultural heritage of the Yellow Emperor or Huangdi — the legendary ancestor of the Chinese people — has been passed down for thousands of years. The county is committed to preserving and promoting this heritage, boosting its innovative development in the modern era.

The annual worship ceremony, a tradition in Jinyun, celebrates Huangdi as a revered ancestor. In 2011, the ceremony was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage item.

Jinyun has launched eight major projects to revitalize Huangdi culture, including brand ceremonies and academic conferences, creating a multi-disciplinary and cross-regional academic exchange platform.

Since Xiandu became a national 5A-level tourist attraction in 2020, thriving tourism has further popularized Huangdi culture. In Jinyun, creative products inspired by the local Huangdi culture currently have more than 270 different items across over 100 categories.

International exchanges have flourished, with over 1,000 students from 80 countries and regions experiencing Huangdi culture firsthand. Jinyun was named a national youth cultural study base for the local Huangdi culture this year.

Jinyun has also made efforts to bring its Huangdi culture to international stages, including translating key texts into multiple languages and displaying this cultural heritage through traditional crafts like paper-cutting to a global audience.
